What we take

We buy Apple Watch models including the Series 9, Series 11 and Ultra 3, along with Galaxy Watch, Fitbit and Garmin devices. If it is a smartwatch that has been sitting in a drawer since you upgraded, it is worth asking about regardless of how old the model is. Bands, chargers and boxes are welcome if you still have them, but their absence does not change whether we will look at the watch itself. Apple Watch charging pucks work across nearly every generation for a standard charge, though newer models need the matching fast-charging cable and power adapter to charge at full speed. Garmin and Fitbit chargers are a different story — each model line typically uses its own proprietary clip or cradle, so a charger that does not exactly match the watch is often useless, and a missing one is worth mentioning when you reach out.

Condition, in plain language

A scratched case, a worn band, or a battery that does not last as long as it used to are all normal and do not rule a smartwatch out. A cracked screen is worth mentioning honestly, along with whether the watch still powers on and holds a charge at all. Water exposure is common with smartwatches, since most people wear them in the shower, the pool, or out in the rain at some point — describe what happened, including roughly how long ago and how the watch has behaved since, rather than assuming a watch that got wet is automatically done for. Whether it is still paired and locked to your account matters most on a smartwatch — a watch stuck behind that lock is not something we, or anyone else, can do anything with, no matter how good it looks otherwise.

Before you meet us

A watch that is still paired and locked to your account cannot be bought by us, or by anyone else, no matter its condition — so read this section before you do anything else to your watch. On an Apple Watch, resetting the watch from its own settings menu does not remove Activation Lock. Activation Lock lives on your Apple ID, not on the watch, and a factory reset performed on the watch itself leaves that lock fully in place. The correct way to remove it is to unpair the watch from its paired iPhone using the Watch app, which walks through the unpairing and removes Activation Lock as part of that process. If the watch was already reset by itself, or the paired phone is gone, that does not by itself make the lock unremovable — Activation Lock is tied to your Apple ID, not to the phone, and it can still be turned off afterward through Find Devices at icloud.com as long as you know the Apple ID and password. What makes it genuinely unremovable is losing access to that Apple ID itself, and a locked watch is not something we can do anything with regardless of its condition. Galaxy Watch and Fitbit devices have their own account-unlinking steps in their respective apps, and the same logic applies: unlink the watch from your account through the app it is paired with, rather than resetting the watch on its own.

How the meetup works

Tell us the model and condition through the form, or text us a photo, and mention whether you have already unpaired it from your account. We set up a meetup in the Albany area or come to you, check that the watch is properly unlinked, and look at battery and screen condition together. If it is something we can buy, you are paid in cash on the spot. If the watch is still locked to an account, we will tell you plainly what needs to happen first rather than take a device we cannot use, so it is worth handling the unpairing before you come rather than after.

I already factory reset my Apple Watch from its own settings. Is Activation Lock gone?

No. Resetting the watch on the watch itself does not remove Activation Lock, since the lock is tied to your Apple ID rather than to the watch. Remove it through Find Devices at icloud.com, or see our before-you-sell guide for the steps.

Do you buy Galaxy Watch and Fitbit devices, or only Apple Watch?

We buy Galaxy Watch, Fitbit and Garmin devices as well as Apple Watch. Unlink whichever one you have from its account through the matching app before the meetup.

Does a worn-out battery rule out my smartwatch?

No. A battery that does not last like it used to is common and does not settle the question by itself — bring the watch and we will look at it.

What if I no longer have the phone my Apple Watch was paired to?

Not having the phone does not by itself lock you out. Activation Lock is tied to your Apple ID, and it can still be removed through Find Devices at icloud.com as long as you know the Apple ID and password — read our before-you-sell guide for the exact steps. Losing access to that Apple ID is the case that is genuinely hard to recover from.
