Sell your VR headset in Albany for cash
VR headsets are the gift that gets used hard for a month and then lives in its box. If yours is one of them, tell us what you have. We set a time to meet in the Albany area or come to you, look it over together, and pay cash on the spot for anything we can use.
What we take
The Meta Quest line is what we see most: the Quest 3, the Quest 3S, the Quest 2 and the Quest Pro, along with the older Oculus Quest and Rift for anyone who still has one. We also look at the PlayStation VR2 and the original PlayStation VR, the Apple Vision Pro, the Valve Index, the HTC Vive line including the Vive Pro and XR Elite, and the HP Reverb. Smart glasses such as Ray-Ban Meta count here too. Storage size matters on the standalone headsets, so if you know whether your Quest is the smaller or larger version, say so; if you do not, it is listed under Settings and a photo of that screen is enough. Accessories are worth mentioning in the same message: an upgraded head strap, a carrying case, a charging dock, a link cable, prescription lens inserts, or extra face cushions. Even if you do not see your headset named here, tell us what you have and we will look. A headset that has sat unused for two years is not ruled out by that alone.
Condition, in plain language
On a VR headset the lenses are the first thing we look at, because they are the part that cannot be polished back. Fine scratches from glasses, and above all sun damage, are the two things worth checking: a headset left facing a window can have its screen burned by sunlight focused through its own lenses, which shows up as a permanent bright or yellow spot when you put it on. Tell us if you see one. After the lenses, we care whether it turns on, whether tracking holds steady or drifts, whether both controllers connect and track, and how long the battery lasts. A worn face cushion, a stretched or cracked strap, and scuffed controller rings are ordinary wear and easy to describe. A missing controller matters more, since the headset depends on them, but a headset with one controller or none is still worth a message. Describe what you have as it is. Condition mostly changes what we can say about a headset, not whether it is worth asking about.
Before you meet us
A VR headset is tied to an account, and that is the step that matters. On a Meta Quest, do a factory reset from the headset settings or from the Meta Horizon phone app, which removes your account and everything on the device; a Quest that is still tied to your account is awkward for the next owner and leaves your purchases and messages on it. On a PlayStation VR2 there is nothing on the headset itself to sign out of, since the account lives on the console. On an Apple Vision Pro, sign out of your Apple Account and turn off Find My before you erase it, exactly as you would with an iPhone, because an activation-locked Vision Pro cannot be set up by anyone else. Give the lenses a gentle wipe with a dry microfibre cloth and nothing else: no sprays and no paper towel. Charge it, so we can switch it on together. Then gather the controllers, the charger and cable, and the box if you kept it.
How the meetup works
Every meetup is by appointment, so nothing happens until we have agreed a time with you. Tell us the headset, the storage size if you know it, and what comes with it through the form, or text us a photo of everything laid out together. We set a time to meet in the Albany area, or we come to you when that is easier. At the meetup we switch the headset on, look through the lenses for scratches and sun marks, check that both controllers pair and track, and confirm it has been reset, all while you stand right there. It takes a few minutes. Then we tell you plainly what we can buy that day. Anything we take is paid for in cash on the spot, and anything we cannot use stays with you, with an honest explanation. If you are selling a headset alongside the console or gaming PC it was used with, mention both in the same message and we will look at everything in one visit.

Questions we get
- Do you buy a VR headset without its controllers?
- Sometimes. The controllers matter on most headsets, so a headset alone is a different thing to describe than a complete set, but it is still worth a message with exactly what you have.
- Do I need to factory reset my Meta Quest before selling it?
- Yes, it is the one step that really matters. A factory reset removes your Meta account, your purchases and your data from the headset, and it can be done from the headset settings or from the Meta Horizon app on your phone.
- What is sun damage on a VR headset, and how do I check for it?
- Sun damage is a permanent bright or yellowish spot burned into the screen by sunlight focused through the lenses. Put the headset on and look at a plain dark or plain white scene: a mark that stays in the same place is the sign, and it is worth telling us about before we meet.
- Do you buy the PlayStation VR2 without a PS5?
- Yes, the headset is worth asking about on its own. If you are selling the console as well, mention both and we will look at them in the same visit.
