Before you sell this PlayStation

Sony publishes the steps, and the order matters. First back up what you want to keep, sync your trophies and take out any discs and USB drives. If you installed an M.2 SSD in a PS5 and want to keep it, save your data to it and remove it. Then deactivate the console: on a PS5 go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play > Disable; on a PS4 go to Settings > Account Management > Activate as Your Primary PS4 > Deactivate. Last, reset it: on a PS5 go to Settings > System > System Software > Reset Options > Reset Your Console; on a PS4 go to Settings > Initialization > Initialize PS4 > Full. Sony notes this cannot be undone. If you no longer have the console, you can deactivate everything on your account from Account Management under Device Management, once every six months. Write down the serial number before it goes.

What to bring

The console, its power cable and an HDMI cable, plus every controller you have. Bring the stand or vertical mount if you kept it, the original box if you still have it, and any games or extra storage that goes with it. A console with missing pieces is still worth asking about; just list what you have.
